Our Prime Focus

Worldviews
What could your friends possibly be thinking in this tolerant society?
Have you ever assumed someone thinks like you only to discover you are not on the same page? How should we live in a society that advocates tolerance? Can everybody’s viewpoint really co-exist without consequence? How do these various groups see the world they live in? In these sessions we’ll look at various worldviews - including presuppositions about reality and morality. Worldviews such as Islam, Atheism, Secular Humanism, and Pantheism will be explored. As well we will study the opposing views of creationism and evolutionism and how these viewpoints have influenced our society. Some of your friends might say their belief system doesn’t have a label; what they believe isn’t an ”ism”. Collectively what they do think does have a label. We’ll explore how relativism can shape our thinking individually and collectively. We will investigate how popular culture influences us by marketing the ‘cool factor’. We’ll assess the differences and consider tensions created as opposing worldviews are compared to the Christian worldview.

Apologetics & Evangelism
Ever wish you had expressed your faith better in a conversation you’ve had with a friend? Apologetics can help. It’s the rational defense of the Christian faith. These sessions begin with an introductory outline and expand on two major premises - the existence of God and the authority of the Bible. We’ll learn about the great Christian apologists, past and present, and their most popular works and study the relationship between faith and reason, between ideas and actions.
As apologist William Lane Craig says, “If you have a sound and persuasive case for Christianity, you don’t have to become an expert in comparative religions and Christian cults. A positive justification of the Christian faith automatically overwhelms all competing world views lacking an equally strong case.”
Since evangelism is not optional for Christians, we will have some dynamic teaching and interactive instruction on sharing God’s good news of grace in Jesus Christ.
Leadership
Have you thought of yourself as a leader? Sometimes our preconceptions limit our understanding of the leadership potential that could be a part of who we are. This will be your opportunity to have an in-depth look into being a leader and discover what your personal leadership style could be. Leaders and leadership styles come in all shapes and sizes. For instance, there are leaders who are gifted in launching new ventures, others who tackle growing needs by leading change, and still more who rise to leadership in response to an injustice.
Leadership by definition is initiating and guiding the actions of groups of people. Christ said in order to be a leader, you must be a servant. How does this redefine our view of being a leader? Workshops will cover principles of leadership, help identify your leadership abilities, and help you envision the leadership roles you can assume immediately. You’ll receive practical tools to grow into servant leadership. Group sessions will cover critical thinking, communication, and conflict resolution skills.
